Selling Used Machinery & Equipment with Smith Broughton

At Smith Broughton Auctioneers, we operate with several sales and auction platforms in order to give you the best opportunities for selling your used heavy equipment. Our three key platforms are buy now, a timed online auction, and an expression of interest (EOI). Each sales platform includes promotional marketing that is specifically tailored to each individual platform. Timed online auctions often include promotion to our email database and comprehensive online presence, while any equipment and machinery going up at an on-site auction will be presented as a feature item for our events.

You can also choose to have a reserved or unreserved auction that permits you to either set a required reserve price for your equipment or simply take the highest bidder’s offer with the assistance of our sales reps. Additionally, we also offer guaranteed minimum return auctions and outright purchase options. Our experienced team will help you devise the ideal selling platform for your used industrial equipment and heavy machinery.

FAQs When Selling Used Heavy Industrial Equipment

How long will it take for my industrial equipment to sell?

It usually takes 3-4 weeks to complete the auction process. To maximise your sales result/s we recommend including your asset/s in our standard two week advertising and marketing campaign prior to auction which is included in our commission structure. Our online auctions run for 7 days after which a payment will be processed within 21 days of the auction closing time. A dedicated sales representative will manage your asset/s or account and will assist in facilitating inspections and answering enquiries from potential buyers throughout the entire campaign from the pre marketing campaign and also during the auction.

Do you accept trade-ins for heavy equipment?

We have options available to assist you with disposing your existing asset/s. Please speak to one of our sales representatives for more information.

Do I need to deliver my equipment to you, or can you pick it up?

Please communicate with us when you are intending to send your asset/s to any of our auction sites. One of our friendly team members may be able to provide you with recommendations for third-party delivery.

Do you photograph my machinery for me?

Yes. Photography is part of the asset/s booking in process and is also used in the marketing and advertising campaigns that take place before the online auction.

Are there restrictions on the heavy machinery I can sell?

Please consult with a sales representative to discuss further. As a general rule, there are some requirements relating to the safety status and transport of the equipment you wish to sell.

Do I need to provide any documentation for the machinery?

We conduct compulsory Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) checks on all equipment that has an identification or serial number. Proof of ownership is required along with any licensing or certification documents.
